“Yawn.” 7.30am. I get up and get dressed, then make myself a cup of coffee. I turn on the TV and make sure it’s on the AM show while I eat my breakfast. They’re just telling me what the weather will be in our state when there is a sharp, rhythmic knock on the door. I go to answer it, the man, at the door, has charged, grey eyes that portray clouds of thunder. SMACK. A tightly balled fist strikes my face forcefully knocking me back. As I fall to the ground I hear my attacker mumble something into his earpiece, then drift off into a deep sleep.
I wake up to see a bright light shining on my face and people talking in the background. I seem to be in some sort of asylum. I lift my head slightly to get a better view of everything, as my vision is coming back I see heaps of people dressed in pearl-white lab coats tending to many more patients like me, some with horns growing out of their head others with cannons for arms. They were giving them injections and medicine, one person was eating something that appeared to be red pus. The Doctors were taking notes on everyone's reactions and everything. I look to the end of my bed there is a label tied to the cold metal.
I look up, one of the doctors has spotted I am awake. She starts to walk towards me, my first instinct is to run.
I am running through the swing doors and out into an unknown world with an unknown forest and an unknown path. As I run along the path I hear shouting, “Get her”
“She is crucial for the project”
“Abel will be seeing red”. My cold sweat is dripping down my forehead and my clothes are sticking to me. Thoughts flash through my mind, Where am I?, Who is Zayne?, What is the project? Where should I go?, Who is Abel?, What should I do? Finally, I come to a spot which I think is a suitable place to rest. I lie down by the stream and look up through the gap between the branches into the mysterious, starry sky then doze off.
I sat bolt-upright in my bed. Then check my alarm clock, it sits on top of the books that I am currently reading which at the moment are How to stop time and The great zoo of China It is 6.02pm.“That was not real” I tell myself under my breath I go for a run then have a shower. The last 24 hours have been confusing and crazy but they’ve been pretty wicked too. I go to the kitchen and eat the leftover Mongolian I had last night. I turn on the TV. It is the add break, but then there is an urgent announcement
Donald Trump Declares War against North Korea, Is WW3 forming?
“Crap” I whisper under my breath. I run to the kitchen and open the cupboards then sweep the food off the shelves and into the plastic bin along with a first aid kit, a torch, 5 gallons of water, blankets, a small sharp knife, a radio, and medication. “I have to be ready,” I say to myself quietly.
When I wake I have a look at my hand on earth flawless but here scratched, bloody and covered with rashes.I am confused, tired, bloody and in need of a shower. I jump I the stream in an attempt to clean myself then gather berries off nearby bushes. I go for a walk through the forest and try to gather myself. “Okay” when I go to sleep I enter the real world and when I sleep in the real world I come here which is the real world or are they both real? “Psst” I hear someone whisper.
I am just preparing the basement in case of air raids and putting my survival kit in the corner. The government has given everyone a gas mask as well. I have just organized and put all of my important files in a folder such as my birth certificate and passport because like I said ‘I have to be ready’.
I’m now following a short, stubby woman down a path that I never noticed, hidden behind a blackberry bush, and I have now learned that her name is Asha but she prefers to be addressed as Ash. When we get to Ash’s house, which resembles something similar to a hobbit-house, she looks sideways cautiously and signals me to be quiet but to come hastily. She opens the door and I come in. I sit at the table while she brews a cup of tea. She then tells me everything or the deal. She tells me that there an evil mastermind called Abel, and the asylum that I ran away from was actually where Abel creates her weapons and that their world will end if I don’t save it, “Hang on” I say “ Me. How could I save this world?”
“For one,” Ash says harshly “This world is called mistrudia, and for two there is an ancient prophecy that was just recently found. It told Abel that a girl with the initials S W would bring her down one day so she has started destroying this world as we know it. It used to be a Utopia and it is just a dump that needs saving. You’re the only one that can save it” Ash says half exasperatedly half hopefully. “Please? If you can’t do that I understand if you choose your own world to save but consider it Please.”
“Wait,” I say “what do you mean choose my own world to save?”
“The prophecy said that the savior of our world would have to sacrifice one of the worlds to save another”. And as I went to sleep that night kept repeating those words in my head until I fell asleep.
I am woken by my alarm, 5.00am. It’s my birthday today and usually knowing this brings joy but now I just wonder what’s the point? I stretch then draw the curtains and look out hoping for there to be birds singing and most of all for peace to be restored but as usual, what I see doesn’t please me. I have a shower and then check my iPad for any news. I have a new email. It’s from the military precision of America. I read;
To Miss Sienna Wade
You have now been appointed deputy head in charge of the air strike committee. Your great-great uncle used to be on the committee and did a great job we owe him a lot. You’re his only living relative so we are counting on you. The next committee meeting will be tomorrow 14.20. We expect to see you there don’t let us down.

As I read this I wonder what about Rachel my sister? She was way more successful than me! I’m sure they’d appreciate her and her skills more; she can read morse code, She was in the Navy, she was amazingly athletic. Then a thought hits me. What if she got bombed? I turn on the radio and go to the latest broadcast “Hawaii has been gassed by military troops in North Korea” and then it cuts to a very in-depth report. Before I even have time to process what I've just heard a big fat tear comes rolling down my face “Happy Birthday” I spit.
I wake and examine the unfamiliar roughly plastered wall I roll over to find Ash making breakfast. French toast, banana, and berries. Yum! After breakfast, she tells me I can go if I choose not to save this world. I am just walking through the short oval-ish doorway when I turn back around. I’m being selfish I shall find a way to save both worlds, I shall. I turn around and her face lights up “I will” I remark. She is softly crying but a smile lingers on her face. Tonight I go to sleep a happy woman. I shall find a way.
I wake up tangled in my bedsheets. I look across the once familiar room at the mirror showing the fallen-apart remnants of what I used to be me. The doorbell rings who would be visiting now? There is a war going on people. I go to answer cautiously, last time I did this I got knocked out and kidnapped. I open the door “Hello” remarks a happy but weary voice. My mouth drops. “Rachel,” I remark.
“Sienna, happy birthday! I know I’m a bit late and the plane ride was a bit rough but all the same. Happy birthday” she walks through the door and we both drop onto the couch and fall asleep. In the morning I wake up to the sound of my sister busying herself in the kitchen “Coffee?” she calls.
“Thanks” I reply. We sit on the couch staring at each other “I thought you were dead” I say in a small, quiet voice.
In reply she says “I heard about the bombing.”
In the morning Ash and I go for a walk in the woods. While walking we mostly talk and that is when I decide about telling her I have chosen. “I have decided to save your world even if it means the fate of my own” she stares at me for a while brow knitted in concentration. It looks as if she is trying to figure out a very hard word.
“Why?”
“Because my world is horrible. It may have amazing things in it but actually, my world is full of horrible people, and horrible machines. Slowly we are destroying everything we worked so hard for. The human race is dying we are killing the earth day by day but do we stop? NO! We are Monsters destroying everything we worked for.” I exclaim exasperated.
She replies simply “Fair enough”. Towards the end of the walk, she speaks again. “No, we’re going this way”. We turn left and walk along a well-disguised path. Finally, we come to a cave carved in the middle of a rock face. We climb some steps and go up into the cave. The cave is a spacious, roomy caver. It doesn’t appear to have any secret passage or extra rooms it is quite simple.
“What is this place?” I say in awe.
“It is the rebels base,” she says in a quiet voice.
I wake on the couch. I feel sick. I have to try to talk to my sister again, my first attempt wasn’t the best we started arguing and shouting I ended up throwing a vase at her. Not the best conversation I have ever had. I knock tentatively on my sister's bedroom door “Hello” I murmur.
“Come in,” she says in a quiet tone. It is extremely awkward since our last encounter wasn’t the best. Both us try to make conversations but we fail so I decided to get straight down to business.
“I need your help. There is a war going on and they’ve asked me to become the deputy in charge of the air strike committee. I want you to take my place your more experienced than me and I’m scared” I guess the half truth is better than lying “Please Rachel” I look at my sister in a babyish way.
“Don’t worry. I understand how much pressure you’ve been under lately. Of course, I will.” Phew! I think as I wipe my forehead.
I am wandering through rooms as big as aeroplane hangars. The walls are covered from top to bottom in weaponry. As far as I can see there are axes, guns, knives, swords & arrows. This is amazing. I wonder how long the rebels have been operating. Ash says “This is it.”
